If you love the old-fashioned goodness of baked apples, Idareds are excellent, as the hold their shape perfectly and look beautiful on the table. They are a cross between a Jonathan and Wagener, that are 2 popular New York apples.
They are sweetly tart, juicy, firm and sometimes tinted rosey pink. Excellent for sauces, cooking, baking and pies. Good for eating, salads and freezing.
Pollinator required: Choose another pollinator such as Zester, Golden Russet, Liberty, Mac, Lodi (yellow transparent, Spy, Enterprise, Fjui, Granny Smith, Empire or Mutsu.
2 yr old trees on G935 rootstocks 6′ tall. Trees will mature 12′-14”ft tall. Just slightly larger then dwarf, but nice as do not have to stake them.
